01/07/2008

The Inn at Inverbeg, less than five minutes drive from Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel, has opened its doors this summer with beautiful, rustic accommodation, a new wave fish restaurant and whisky bar, all offering the warmth and ambience of a stylish, contemporary Inn. The eat-in and take-away fish restaurant is a real first for the area, with local quality produce being used to create a tempting menu. From an impressive bar, the Inn offers the best quality local real ales and stocks over 200 malts selected from the top whisky regions in Scotland. It is a must visit for anyone living, holidaying or travelling through the area. Set back on the main A82, three miles north of Luss, the Inn is perfectly located for drink, food or a relaxing overnight stay.

The original Inn has been a popular stop over point for travellers for nearly two centuries offering fantastic views down to Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond. Owners of Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel, The Colquhoun Family acquired the Inn during 2007 and since then have embarked on a renovation process which has transformed it into what is set to be one of Scotland’s most desirable Inns. All public areas and existing 12 bedrooms have been completely redesigned, as have a further eight rooms within the exclusive beach house which is located on the banks of Loch Lomond with its own jetty. An additional 11 rooms are underdevelopment and will be open for Easter 2009.

Mr C’s Fish and Whisky Bar is the Inn’s fantastic fish restaurant and bar. The eat-in and take-away restaurant serves fresh, sustainable fish, caught locally, where possible, and prepared daily by the renowned fishmongers, The Fish People Scotland. Fish lovers will delight in the choice, from customary haddock, cod and coley to tempting oysters, squid and langoustines, and with a fine selection of non-fish and meat dishes from the grill, there is something for all. Accompaniments don’t stop at delicious hand-cut chips and mushy peas, with the restaurant serving up steamed greens, buttered new season potatoes and seasonal salads such as, wild rocket and parmesan. Children are not overlooked with a fantastic menu specially created for them, Little C’s.

Respectful of their beautiful environment, the owners have achieved a Silver award for Green Tourism at Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel and aim to continue this philosophy at The Inn at Inverbeg. All take-away boxes are made from recycled cardboard and bio-degradable cutlery is also available. Head Chef, Michael Barton has spent 10 of his 17 restaurant years working in some of the best fish restaurants in London and has an inspiring knowledge and passion for organic produce which comes through in his menu.

The Inn has worked with Gordon McPhail to hand-pick whiskies from the top seven Scottish whisky regions. Members of the whisky embassy, the Inn will host monthly whisky sampling nights and have live folk music each evening during the Summer months, from talented musicians to outstanding singers. Quality real ale from the best local brewers, including Loch Fyne Ales and the Houston Brewing Company, is yet another attraction. Guests can relax in the beautiful warm interiors appreciating the best of what Scotland can offer.

It is perfectly located to explore some of the most stunning parts of Scotland, from city to the Highlands, with easy access to Glasgow, Oban, Inveraray and the rugged west coast. Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is one of the most beautiful and untouched areas of Scotland. Within this, Argyll Forest Park stretches from the shores of Loch Lomond and Loch Long to Loch Eck and Loch Fyne. Its location is ideal for water activities, including loch cruises, water skiing and canoeing or on land, mountain biking, hill walking and golfing.
